Ranger Margaret Anderson died in the line of duty January 1 at Mt. Rainier National Park.

American Flags and Wisconsin Flags to fly at half-staff Friday, January 6th in the state of Wisconsin in honor of Staff Sgt. Joseph J. Altmann.

According to the office of the governor:
Staff Sergeant Joseph J. Altmann was a member of 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, United States Army. He died while serving his country in Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.

US Army Specialist Mikayla A. Bragg died in the line of duty December 21 in Afghanistan.

American Flags and Virginia Flags to fly at half-staff Wednesday, January 4th in the Commonwealth of Virginia in honor of James R. Dobyns.

According to the office of the governor:
Former State Delegate, James Robert Dobyns served in the military during World War II, and in the 1980’s he was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates, where he served for seven years, holding membership on the Education, Roads, Mining, Agriculture and Finance Committees.
