Half-Staff Washington Flags – Jayme Biendl II

Gov. Chris Gregoire has directed that Washington State and United States flags at state agency facilities be lowered to half-staff Tuesday, February 8, 2011, in memory of Washington State Dept. of Corrections Officer Jayme Biendl, who was killed January 29 at the Monroe Correctional Complex.

Flags should remain at half-staff until close of business Tuesday, or first thing Wednesday morning, February 9. 

Other government entities, citizens and businesses are encouraged to join this recognition. 

A memorial service for Officer Biendl is scheduled for Tuesday, February 8.

Pittsfield, MA to design new City Flag

The city of Pittsfield, MA has opened a contest to design an official flag for the city.  The flag design contest is open to anyone and designs must be submitted by March 1st.

Florida State Flags to fly at half-staff in the state of Florida on Monday, January 24, to honor Roger Castillo and Amanda Haworth.  These two Miami-Dade police detectives were killed in the line of duty Thursday.
