American Flags and Maine Flags to fly at half-staff Friday, January 11th through Sunday, January 13th in the state of Maine in honor of Lieutenant Colonel Michael Backus.

According to the office of the governor:
LTC Backus was a Maine Army National Guard Active Guard and Reserve officer serving with the Joint Forces Headquarters. He died unexpectedly on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, while performing his duties at Camp Keyes in Augusta. Backus, a graduate of Mt. Blue High School in 1986, and a 1990 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, served his country in a number of different capacities of increasing responsibility throughout his 22-year career.

Wyoming Flags to fly at half-staff Friday, January 11th at the Capitol in Cheyenne and in Converse County in honor of former State Representative Dave Edwards. Representative Edwards served Converse County in the Wyoming House of Representatives from 2001-2008 and as a County Commissioner from 2009-2012.
