Kentucky Flags to fly at half-staff Saturday, November 17th in the Commonwealth of Kentucky in honor of Marion County Sheriff’s Deputy Anthony Rakes. Deputy Rakes died this week after being shot during a routine traffic stop.

Half-Staff Illinois Flags – Honoring Herbert Johnson

Friday, November 16th, 2012

American Flags and Illinois Flags to fly at half-staff Tuesday, November 6th through Thursday, November 8th in the state of Illinois in honor of Chicago Fire Department Captain Herbert Johnson. Capt. Johnson died from injuries suffered while battling an extra-alarm blaze at a Gage park home.

Half-Staff Colorado Flags – Honoring James Davies

American Flags and Colorado Flags to fly at half-staff Thursday, November 15th in the state of Colorado in honor of Police Officer James Davies. Davies, of the Lakewood police department, was killed after responding to reports of shots fired in a Lakewood neighborhood.

Half-Staff Massachusetts Flags – Honoring Joseph Early

Joseph Early served six terms as a state representative from 1963 to 1974 and then served in the U.S. House from 1975 to 1993.

Half-Staff New York Flags – Honoring Gornewicz, Jayne, Venne

Monday, November 5th, 2012

American Flags and New York Flags to fly at half-staff Wednesday, November 7th in honor of three United States Army Reserve Soldiers. Specialist Brett Gornewicz, Specialist Ryan Jayne, and Staff Sgt. Dain Venne, died in Paktiya Province, Afghanistan on November 3.

According to the office of the governor:
Specialist Brett Gornewicz, Specialist Ryan Jayne, and Staff Sgt. Dain Venne, died of wounds sustained when their humvee was struck by an improvised explosive device. The three men were assigned to the 444th Engineer Company which is headquartered in Oswego. The unit is an element of the 178th Engineer Battalion of the 412th Theater Engineer Command.

Half-Staff Maine Flags – Honoring John Reed

American Flags and Maine Flags to fly at half-staff Wednesday, November 7th in the state of Maine in honor of former Maine Governor John Reed.

According to the office of the governor:
Former Governor Reed became Governor in 1959 following the unexpected death of Governor Clauson, and served the State until 1967, during which time he was instrumental in creating the University of Maine System. He served in the Navy in World War II and also was Chairman of the National Governor’s Association and was appointed as Ambassador to Sri Lanka and the Maldives under both Presidents Nixon and Reagan.

Wyoming Flags to fly at half-staff Friday, November 2nd at the Capitol in Cheyenne and in Park County in honor of former State Representative Peg Shreve. Ms. Shreve represented Park County in the Wyoming House of Representatives from 1979 to 1998.
