American Flag in Leland, NC Flies Again
Wednesday, October 27th, 2010The large flag flying at the Exxon Gas Station in Leland, NC is back flying again. In a battle that began in July, the Town Council ordered the owner to take down the oversized flag that was found to be in violation of the town sign ordinance. The public generated quite a buzz locally in defense of the flag and against the town council for ordering its removal. Over 6,000 signatures were gathered in support of the large American Flag. The town ordinance has now been revised to allow for flagpoles of 60′ and the appropriate sized flags for those poles. More can be found on the story by visiting:
