American Flags and Pennsylvania Flags to fly at half-staff Saturday, July 13 at the Capitol Complex and in Philadelphia in honor of former US Representative William Gray III.

According to the office of the governor:
William Gray III was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1978. He was the first African-American to serve as chairman of the House Budget Committee and the Majority Whip. Gray served in Congress until his resignation in 1991, when he was named president of the United Negro College Fund. He held that post until 2004.

American Flags and Kentucky Flags to fly at half-staff Wednesday, July 10th in the Commonwealth of Kentucky in honor of US Army Sgt. Corey Garver. Sgt. Garver died June 23rd of wounds sustained while serving in Afghanistan. Sgt. Garver was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, Fort Campbell, KY.

American Flags and New York Flags to fly at half-staff Monday, July 8th in New York in honor of US Army Sgt. Justin Rogers. Sgt. Rogers died while serving in Afghanistan on June 28th. He was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, KY.

American Flags and Illinois Flags to fly at half-staff Wednesday, July 3rd through Friday, July 5th in honor of the Arizona Firefighters who died this week battling a wildfire near Prescott, AZ.

American Flags and Arizona Flags to fly at half-staff Monday, July 1st through Wednesday, July 3rd in honor of the 19 firefighters killed Sunday while battling the Yarnell Fire near Prescott, Arizona.

UPDATE: The period for half-staff flags has been extended through Friday, July 19th in Arizona. This will bring the length of the entire tribute to 19 days, one day for each firefighter lost in the fire.

American Flags and Washington State Flags to fly at half-staff Monday, July 1st in Washington State in honor of US Army Spc. Robert Ellis. Spc. Ellis died June 18th while serving in Afghanistan of injuries sustained from indirect fire.

American Flags and Wisconsin Flags to fly at half-staff Saturday, June 29th in the State of Wisconsin in honor of USMC Lance Corporal Merlin Allen.

According to the office of the governor:
Lance Corporal Allen was a field radio operator in the Vietnam War whose helicopter crashed around June 30, 1967. His remains were recently found and identified.

American Flags and Kentucky Flags to fly at half-staff Tuesday, June 25th in the Commonwealth of Kentucky in honor of US Army Warrant Officer Sean Mullen.

Warrant Officer Mullen died June 2, in Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Campbell, KY.

American Flags and New Jersey Flags to fly at half-staff Monday, June 24th in the state of New Jersey in honor of James Gandolfini.

American Flags and Massachusetts Flags to fly at half-staff Saturday, June 22nd in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in honor of US Army PFC Christopher Dona. PFC Dona was killed while conducting a parachute training exercise. He was part of the 1st Battalion of the 75th Ranger Regiment based at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, GA.

Note: The Commonwealth of Massachusetts flag is to remain at half-staff until July 8th under previous declaration honoring former Governor Argeo Paul Cellucci.
