American Flags and Kansas Flags to fly at half-staff Thursday, November 14th in the State of Kansas in honor of US Army Sergeant First Class Forrest Robertson. SFC Robertson died as a result of injuries suffered when his patrol was attacked with small arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades while serving in Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. Roberston was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 6th Squadron, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia.

Maryland State Flags to fly at half-staff Tuesday, November 11th through Saturday, November 16th in honor of David Barr Jr. Barr was a 13 year veteran of the Perryville Community Fire Department. He died as a result of injuries suffered in the line of duty when he was directing traffic at the scene of a crash and was struck by a vehicle.

He was awarded the following honors: Air Force Commendation medal, the Army Commendation medal, the Air Force Achievement medal, the Army Achievement medal, the Combat Action Badge, the Air Force Combat Action medal and the Army Combat Action badge.

Sgt. Turnbull died while serving in Kuwait as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. He was assigned to the 62nd Expeditionary Signal Battalion, 11th Signal Brigade, Fort Hood, Texas.

Officer Kohlmeier, of the Pontiac Police Department, was killed (Along with his police dog Draco) when his patrol car was hit while he was parked in a median. Kohlmeier was a 6 year police veteran as well as a veteran of the US Air Force.

American Flags and Colorado Flags to fly at half-staff Saturday, November 2nd in the State of Colorado in honor of Scott Carpenter. Carpenter was a US Navy veteran who served as a pilot from 1949-1958. In 1959 Carpenter joined NASA as part of Project Mercury. He was the fourth American in space and the second to orbit the Earth. Some of his awards include: Navy Astronaut Wings, Navy’s Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross and NASA Distinguished Service Medal. There is a middle school in Colorado and an elementary school in New Jersey that both bear his name.

Skelton began his public service in the Missouri State Senate in 1970 and served through 1976. In 1976 he was elected to Congress where he served 17 terms. He was presented the Conspicuous Service Medal by Missouri Governor Jay Nixon.
