Half-Staff Pennsylvania Flags – Honoring William Gray III

American Flags and Pennsylvania Flags to fly at half-staff Saturday, July 13 at the Capitol Complex and in Philadelphia in honor of former US Representative William Gray III.

According to the office of the governor:
William Gray III was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1978. He was the first African-American to serve as chairman of the House Budget Committee and the Majority Whip. Gray served in Congress until his resignation in 1991, when he was named president of the United Negro College Fund. He held that post until 2004.

Half-Staff Kentucky Flags – Honoring Corey Garver

American Flags and Kentucky Flags to fly at half-staff Wednesday, July 10th in the Commonwealth of Kentucky in honor of US Army Sgt. Corey Garver. Sgt. Garver died June 23rd of wounds sustained while serving in Afghanistan. Sgt. Garver was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, Fort Campbell, KY.

American Flags and Arizona Flags to fly at half-staff Monday, July 1st through Wednesday, July 3rd in honor of the 19 firefighters killed Sunday while battling the Yarnell Fire near Prescott, Arizona.

UPDATE: The period for half-staff flags has been extended through Friday, July 19th in Arizona. This will bring the length of the entire tribute to 19 days, one day for each firefighter lost in the fire.
