4x6" Burundi rayon mounted stick flag. Rayon is the top of the line material in our miniature line of flags. A silk-like material, these flags are mounted to a black dowel, with a gold spear and hemmed on all four sides. Great for table decorations or desk-top display. The flag of Burundi, adopted in 1967, features a white saltire, or St. Andrews Cross, which divides the field into four triangles. The Red triangles on the top and bottom symbolize Burundi’s struggle for independence, and the green triangles on the left and right represent hope. In the center of the saltire is a white disc charged with three six-pointed stars symbolizing the words in the national motto: “Unité, Travail, Progrès meaning “Unity, Work, Progress” in French. It is also believed to represent the three ethnic groups in Burundi, the Hutu, the Tutsi, and the Twa.
