American Flags and Missouri Flags to fly at half-staff Wednesday, December 14th in the state of Missouri in honor of Frederick Guthrie Jr.

According to the office of the governor:
Frederick “Fred” Guthrie Jr. was a trooper with the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Trooper Guthrie, along with his K-9 partner, Reed, died in the line of duty on Aug. 1 while serving the citizens of Missouri while on flood duty in Holt County.

Trooper Guthrie began his career as an officer with the Missouri State Water Patrol in 1994, before transitioning in January 2011 to become a trooper in the new Water Patrol Division of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, where he was assigned to Troop A. In 2008, he was one of the first recipients to receive the Missouri Medal of Valor, to honor his bravery in carrying out a water rescue during a storm on Smithville Lake in 2007.
